Rates

I do up to three presentations per day. These presentations can be for assemblies, for smaller class groups, for teachers, or a combination of groups - I enjoy speaking to students from ages kindergarten up through high school, and also to adults interested in children's literature. My presentations usually run an hour, ending with questions from the students, although I can tailor the times to your school's requirements. During my visit, I will also be pleased to autograph books or tangible items such as student journals, bookmarks, autograph books, etc. (I do not autograph scraps of paper). I'll be happy to work with you to arrange to have books available for your students to purchase, if you wish.

My rates are $750 per day, plus expenses. Expenses include travel expenses (mileage reimbursement if I drive; or airfare, mileage and airport parking), motel and meals. Partial days (two presentation, plus autographing, etc.) are $500 plus expenses. If travel expenses look like they'll overwhelm your budget, consider sharing my visit with other schools. A four-day visit to four schools in the same area cuts the airfare or mileage into manageable amounts for each school.

I believe the importance of meeting an author is of inestimable value to students - I only wish I'd had an author come visit my school while I was growing up! I'll try to do what it takes to make it possible for me to visit your school.
